MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN ICMM AND FIP

 

On Thursday, the 23rd of May 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the International Committee of Military Medicine (ICMM) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). The ceremony was organized at the General Assembly of the ICMM, which was held on the occasion of the 43rd ICMM World Congress of Military Medicine, in Basel, Switzerland. For the ICMM, the Secretary General, Major General (ret) Roger VAN HOOF, signed, and for the FIP, it was the President, the Pharmacist Dominique JORDAN.

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is the world federation of the national associations of pharmacists and drug scientists. This non-governmental organization has official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). Through its 137 member organizations, FIP represents and serves nearly three million pharmacists and drug scientists around the world. The FIP was founded in 1912 and its headquarter is in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Its mission is to improve the global health by promoting the progress of pharmaceutical practice and science in order to improve the discovery, development, accessibility and rational use of appropriate, high-quality drugs with a favourable cost-effectiveness ratio.

With the Memorandum of Understanding, the FIP and the ICMM agree to cooperate and consult each other on issues of common interest, particularly those related to health care, international humanitarian law and ethics.
