Report of the Workshop on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Dear General, Sir,

Preceding with the implementation of the resolutions of the ICMM Pan Asia Pacific Regional Assembly and the road map of the Reference Center on Mental Health, the report of the International Workshop on PTSD is hereby presented to you.

International Workshop on PTSD was held by Aja University of Medical Sciences, from 15-17th June 2019, Tehran, Iran.

The organizing committee launched the website for registration, and issued announcements and invitations to the regional countries, partner organizations, and Iranian Armed Forces specialists.

As a result, 26 international guests from 7 countries, and 75 domestic participants, who were all mental health professionals, attended the meeting.

That valuable workshop had several keynotes as follow as:
- Psycho-Social Supports in Disasters
- PTSD: a Deceptively Simple Disorder
- Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
- PTSD & Malingering
- Pharmacotherapy for PTSD
- Treatment of PTSD through Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Psychological Interventions in disasters
- Acute Stress Reactions
- Psychological First Aid: A Brief Review

In this workshop, lots of points about PTSD such as introduction (importance, examples and …), diagnosis, treatments, and new approaches were discussed. Considering all the pros and cons, improvement and progress should become the main goal of what we’ve started.

Here are some suggestions to achieve the mentioned goal in PTSD management in future:
- More education about psychological first aid
- Other new approaches to psychological interventions for PTSD
- Special techniques for rape and incest victims
- A workshop about PTSD management in children and adolescence.
