REPORT OF THE 8th ICMM PAN AMERICAN CONGRESS ON MILITARY MEDICINE

The Eighth Congress of the Panamerican Regional Working Group of the International Committee of Military Medicine has been held in Mexico city from 2016 November 6 to 9.

Besides the important participation from the host country, one could observe presence of several delegations had been sent from other countries of the Region:
- Belize
- Brazil
- Canada
- Chile
- Dominican Republic
- Ecuador
- Nicaragua
- Panama
- Uruguay
- USA

And from other continents:
- Germany
- Indonesia
- Mali
- Russia
- Spain

Communications on Mexican military medical services, tasks and organization, preparedness against Ebola threat and international cooperation, education programs and interoperability have been appreciated by the audience of more than 200 participants.

Some important resolutions have been adopted by the regional assembly: relaunching of regional exchanges within ICMM Pan-American group, creation of a network, prioritization on education programs. A regional session of the course on Law of Armed Conflicts has been announced by Brazil to be held in 2017.

Chile is candidate for organization of the next congress in 2018. Several contacts have been made with countries not yet members. The exhibition of several commercial firms was well attended.

This successful eighth pan-American regional congress, has been completed by a very interesting visit of the National Palace and a closing dinner “Mexican fiesta” which has been an opportunity to consolidate friendly ties.
