From the 23th to the 26th May 2016, the Military Health Service of France has had the honor of hosting for the first time the 4th Pan-European Congress of Military Medicine. Under the aegis of the International Committee for Military Medicine (ICMM), the congress brought together at the “Ecole du Val de Grace” more than 200 participants including senior officials of foreign armies, university professors, officers of the administration, practitioners, nurses and military paramedics in a warm and studious atmosphere.

Participants from more than 40 States were able to exchange and compare ideas in an atmosphere scientific progress and military medical innovation. The discussions focused on four main themes:

- The medical care in operation
- Military Medical Ethics in operation
- The response to humanitarian disasters and terrorist attacks
- Physical and mental rehabilitation of the wounded

Between the presentations, the debates continued around the stands of the Directorate for the supply of military health products, of the military Centre of Epidemiology and Public Health and of the representatives of multiple specialized companies which presented their innovations.

The participants also enjoyed a magnificent spectacle of the Cavalry Regiment of the Republican Guard and a delicious dinner in the “Hôtel des Invalides” that closed the Congress with elegance. With their "mouchoir militaire d’instruction" the participants returned home and will meet each other at the next Pan-European Congress in Poland in 2018.
