Report of the 1st Indonesian Session of the
Course on the Law of Armed Conflicts and Ethics

The first Indonesian session of the course on the Law of Armed Conflicts and Ethics (LOAC Course) has been held from October 2 to 7 in Jakarta. The contents were issued from the yearly course held in Spiez Switzerland. The venue was the High Altitude Institute of the Indonesian Air force which offers all the facilities, offices and the classrooms needed.

40 participants from Indonesian Army, Navy and Air force attended this course and were divided in three classes for exercises.

The course director was the Vice Air Marschal General (MD) MARIONO Surgeon general of Indonesian forces. Major General (MD) MORILLON, Deputy Chairman of the ICMM Scientific Council represented the ICMM. Col Hans BAER (Switzerland), commander of the CE MU ICMM and Col Herri PRIATNA (Indonesia) were the coordinators.

The lecturers were Lt Col Cord VON EINEM (Germany), Col Hans BAER, Major David WINKLER and Captain Andreas WIDLI (Switzerland), NICOD (ICRC) and Col KHAIRUDDIN (Malaysia). They were assisted by five assistant teachers from Indonesian who had attended the LOAC course in Spiez in the previous years.

The participants confirmed through their evaluations that this course had been a success. This result has been obtained thanks to the lecturers and to the strong support and perfect organization from the Indonesian forces health services.
