PRESENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRIZE "FIDEL PAGÈS MIRAVÉ"
4th EDITION 2011


The presentation of the International Prize “Fidel Pagés Miravé” 2011, sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Defense, took place in Madrid on the 23rd September, and was presided over by the Undersecretary of Defense D. Vicente Salvador CENTELLES.
 
The winner of the Award has been the paper titled “Development of a new liquid pharmaceutical form needed in a situation of a nuclear accident”.

The authors of the paper are the LTC D. Antonio Juberías SÀNCHEZ, Pharmacist, Dª Mercedes VERÒN MOROS, Pharmacist, LTC D. Juan Ignacio Cabrera MERINO, Pharmacist, LTC D. Alejandro Zamanillo SAINZ, Pharmacist, and COL D. Javier Broncano BERENGUER, Pharmacist.
 
The second prize was awarded to the paper “Effect of seminal plasma addition on frozen-thawed equine semen”.

The authors of the paper are the 1st LT D. Diego Lozano BENITO, Veterinarian, Dª Lydia Gil HUERTA, Veterinary Medicine PhD, and MAJ Dª Cristina Álvarez SAN MARTIN, Veterinarian
 
The Spanish Armed Forces Surgeon General, MajGen J. MONTERO, in his address to the audience quoted the message of MajGen M. MERLIN, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the ICMM, in which he expressed his regret at not having been able to be present in the ceremony, due to an urgent meeting of the ICMM General Secretariat and the approaching celebration of the International Congress of Military Medicine.

The authors of the second prize-winning paper accompanied by the Undersecretary of Defense,
the Surgeon General, General CAPARRÒS, Chief of the Veterinary Command and General Martínez
GRANDE, General Manager of the Armed Forces Horse Breeding Service.
The absence of 1st LT D. Diego Lozano BENITO Veterinarian, is due to his current deployment in Afghanistan.
