CALL FOR PAPER
The 38th Congress on Military Medicine, hosted and organized by the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 4 to 9 October 2009. The theme for this congress is “Health Services Support in Operations”.
The audience of the congress includes more than 1,000 military medical professionals and academia from more than 100 countries. This biennially organized congress provides military medical personnel and civilian members of the Armed Forces the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and researches with others. In addition to platform presentations, principal discussions, round table discussions and oral communications, congress audience may also view posters exhibitions prepared by their peers.
An exhibition will also be strategically positioned as a platform for new ideas and exploration of new products and services related to military medicine. About 80 international exhibitors who are leading industry players are expected to showcase their state-of-the-art technologies and services in military medicine.
All military medical professionals and academia are encouraged to submit abstracts. Selected papers will be published in the International Review of the Armed Forces Medical Services, an official review of the International Committee of Military Medicine.

Papers Accepted
All military medical professionals and academia are invited to submit, on or before 1st June, 2009, abstracts not exceeding 300 words that describe the relevance and contents of their proposed paper. Authors may submit papers singly or in collaboration with colleagues in the Armed Forces, other government organizations or academia. Materials must represent original work categorized in any of the 15 areas noted above.
The Scientific Committee of WCMMKL 2009, will select papers for presentations on the basis of these summaries. There is no limit regarding the numbers of abstracts one wish to submit. Author(s) presenting abstract must be registered participant(s) in the 38th World Congress on Military Medicine and present the paper (either orally or in poster format).
Selection Criteria
The following criteria will be used to evaluate the submissions:
Relevance and importance to the field of military medicine.
Potential impact on the health services support operations in terms of improved operational capabilities.
Originality and importance to the field of military medical technology.
Sound scientific methodology.
Format for Submission of Abstract
Preferably, abstracts should be around 300 words. Each abstract should be technically concise and indicate relevance to the health services support, in particular the various environments such as: desert, tropics, urban, altitude, airborne, subsurface, temperate, amphibious and CBNRE. For scientific studies, the objective, methodology, sampling and summary or conclusions should be included in the abstract.
For this congress, the Scientific Committee will be reviewing papers through online, emails and hardcopy submissions. Authors are invited to utilize the available methods at their own convenience and choosing. Please follow the following instructions:

B. SUBMISSION BY EMAIL
1. Complete an Abstract Form and attach it to each abstract (oral/poster).
2. Use a 12-point Times Roman font and 3 cm margins.
3. Type the title in capital letters, approximately 3 cm from top of page, followed by the author(s) and their affiliations. Title heading should be centered.
4. Double space between the heading and beginning of the abstract.
5. Single space the abstract with no space between paragraphs.
6. Document must be either in pdf, RTF (Rich Text Format) or MS Word.
7. Submit abstract and the completed abstract form to :

Author's Notification
The Scientific Committee will notify all successful authors by the 31st of July 2009 if their papers are selected. Specific instructions for preparing the final papers for publication in the International Review of the Armed Forces Medical Services will be provided. Those authors who are selected to present papers must submit a complete manuscript prior to the conference.
